Schools back...after a great summer

Hey guys, thanks for posting :-) !
Hope you’re all well. I just returned to school this week, so am getting back into the swing of things. Summer ended up being brilliant. My hiking expedition went really well, and I spent the week in Edinburgh performing in a play during the ‘Fringe Festival’ which was great.

School’s already getting really busy; I started my A level courses this week, but lucky I have lovely teachers and all my lessons have been good so far. Also other good news: I was on the charities committee for school last year, and one of our school charities was JDRF. We ended up raising about £10,000 during the year, through events like dress up days, a dancing competition and sponsored walks and swims, which the school will soon be sending off. So, definitely inching closer to that cure!

Don’t worry about being a little scared of injections Emily; I used to be quite nervous of needles myself. (Once when I was younger I hid under a table in the doctor’s office to avoid getting the yellow fever injection I needed to go on a family trip to Africa!) I’m so glad you and your family are so supportive of JDRF. Keep it up! I did the 5K run in Hyde Park with the JDRF team which was really good fun.

Jake, it’s so good that your type 1 diabetes isn’t affecting your football! I had my first lacrosse match of the season last week which was really exciting and I can’t wait for the next one. We’ve just started up training four days a week now so hopefully the team will do really well this year. It’s such a funny coincidence that you were diagnosed in Florida too!

Adele, I hope that being diagnosed this year wasn’t too overwhelming. It might take some time to get into the swing of keeping your blood sugars really under control, but always keep at it! This website has such great information and advice to help with any problems you might be encountering, and I wish you the best of luck!
