Finding the cure for type 1 means lots of research about how our bodies work. This type of research is called biomedical research. Biomedical research in the past has helped to cure, or make survivable a lot of diseases including polio, cancer and even diabetes (it was a researcher who discovered you could take insulin and stay alive back in 1921).
